That was the call from children to adults. The Montessori way of helping children to grown into a responsible adult has entered Dar es Salaam in Tanzania in 1947.
Miss Dwyer, tutor from England from the international Montessori institute (founded by Dr. Maria Montessori, Doctor and educator) has trained Tanzanian women and later man too to become a Day care Centre directresses.
Since then, more training Centers had been opened in different regions in Tanzania. Nowadays, there are six Centers: DAR ES SALAAM, MTWARA, LUSHOTO, MOSHI, MWANZA, and BUKOBA which are registered under Ministry of Health and Gender, the Government Social Welfare Tanzania.
The Montessori Method is an International Educational approach to children and youngsters from 3 to 24 years. Dr. Montessori believed that children all over the world are the same. Only the environment the child lives in is different. Therefore her way of helping the child in his/her development is scientifically designed and is used in all Montessori schools worldwide in the same way. She was convinced that human being needs to use the hands in order to construct him/herself. Through the senses concepts are formed and established in human brain. After her intensive Observation on children she has invented various materials according to the stages of the development of the child. Up to now her methodology is spreading into many countries in the world from America, Europe, Asia, and Africa to China.
All in all, her deep desire was through an appropriate education to build PEACE in each human being, regardless culture, religion and nation.
