The College was established in 1997 by the Sisters of Baldegg (Switzerland). It is owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Mwanza. The first course consisted of 17 students, all successfully passed examinations and awarded the certificates of social welfare. The college is located at Kawekamo, 6 Kilometers from Mwanza town, heading to the airport.
The college was established due to the demand for little children’s formation during the day in Lake Zone. For the Montessori method which is recognized internationally as the best in teaching education suitable for little children, this method may help the child to determine himself and build self-reliance in the future life. A child gets the knowledge by using various actions such as: common actions, mathematics, science, language and culture.
During training, each college student constructs all tools of the groups mentioned above. After graduating they take them to establish the Day Centre for the formation of young children by using the Montessori Method.
Since the establishment of this College, 620 students have been awarded certificates of social welfare, under the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children. Graduates have been employed or created self-employments at Day infant formation centers. This has helped to develop the community by giving children the best formation through the Montessori Method.
